Globanet Email Migrator (GEM)

Globanet Email Migrator GEMMany organizations are unhappy with their legacy archiving platforms, but their concerns about potential loss of data integrity during a migration keep them from abandoning their existing solution for Symantec’s industry-leading Enterprise Vault. Globanet Email Migrator (GEM) is a software application that eliminates those risks by enabling administrators to migrate data while maintaining chain of custody. It allows users to migrate data from a variety of information sources into – or within – Symantec Enterprise Vault (EV) and enhances Enterprise Vault’s existing functionality for companies already using Enterprise Vault.

Multiple Benefits

GEM’s cryptographic hashing during migrations ensures chain of custody (integrity of messages is maintained), and it dynamically reassign retention categories based on various criteria including age. Proprietary hardware systems such as Centera can be retired and/or seamlessly upgraded to newer versions. Plus it’s rich reporting provides you the depth of information you need to make sound decisions.

Whether you are a current Enterprise Vault user, or are switching your archiving solution over to it, GEM has specific benefits for you. If you are changing your archiving solution to Enterprise Vault, GEM is capable of migrating data from the several data types and archiving platforms including:

  • EMC EmailXtender
  • Enterprise Vault (Site to Site or within a site)
  • CAMM
  • PST
  • Tumbleweed (name of product)
  • Zantaz Digital Safe
  • EML, DXL, MSG
  • Iron Mountain Email Managment
  • GFI MailArchiver
  • Sherpa

If you are already using Enterprise Vault, you’ll find that entire journal archive(s) can be moved from server to server within a given site or between completely separate sites (relocations, corporate mergers, corporate splits). Messages archived prior to EV 8′s OSIS (Optimized Single Instance Storage) model can be reprocessed, allowing this state-of-the-art storage architecture to significantly reduce storage both retroactively and on a go-forward basis. Keep your migration secure through firewalls and across domains with GEM’s small footprint agent that controls GEM-to-GEM traffic. Plus, the Enterprise Vault API calls are performed on local EV servers, not across WAN links.
