Archive Restore Tool (ART)
ART is a Windows-based software application and is designed to disable one or several Microsoft Exchange mailboxes simultaneously from archiving into Enterprise Vault. You can also use ART to restore all items corresponding with their respective shortcuts in a user’s mailbox without having to use Enterprise Vault’s Restore from Vault option from within Microsoft Outlook. Each converted shortcut in the user’s mailbox would then be deleted. ART allows you to restore items to a mailbox in bulk effortlessly. You can also restore items to a specific folder of a user’s mailbox.
Function Overview
Upon initiation, ART traverses through a chosen Exchange mailbox and searches for Enterprise Vault shortcuts. It then attempts to restore every item for a corresponding mailbox shortcut found. If the item corresponding with a shortcut is successfully found in Enterprise Vault and restored to the user’s mailbox, the shortcut will be deleted. However, the archived item in Enterprise Vault will remain intact. If the item is not found (such as with orphan shortcuts) and cannot be restored, then the shortcut will not be deleted.
Custom Filter Plugins
Symantec Enterprise Vault Journaling System enables Symantec™ partners to work with the APIs provided by Symantec™ to manipulate the stream of ingested data. Globanet became the first third-party to take advantage of these APIs since the release of Symantec™ Enterprise Vault Version 3.2 in 2000.
These Plug-Ins allow for the development of rules that select messages based on various criteria, such as email message, user attribute, email message direction and subject. After selection, a wide variety of actions can be taken, including assignment of particular retention category setting, storing of archived message in particular vault or deletion.
For example, an extremely simple Plug-In could indefinitely retain all communications sent to or from users with the “Legal” attribute while messages from users marked as “Support Staff” are retained for a period of only one year.
Globanet can develop far more complex Custom Filter Plug-Ins for your business after meeting with you to develop an in-depth understanding of your company’s business logic for archiving and reviewing emails.
Rules Based Item Manager (RBIM)
RBIM allows for management of archived items based on changes to any EV indexible attribute. You can delete items en masse from multiple archives following complex rule sets.
EV Advanced Filter (EVAF)
EVAF makes it possible to add custom index attributes (tags) to email being archived based on complex Boolean logic. You can easily include or exclude data
from sampling or discovery set. This allows for granular discovery of archived data based on searches using these tags. Tags are defined in XML files and support SMTP header matching, SQL matching (White Listing) and LDAP tagging.
Reverse Archive Module (RAM)
The proliferation of email archiving tools often results in the costly maintenance of multiple internal archiving systems at the expense of efficiency and simplicity. You often have no choice but to abandon new features and improvements offered by a new system due to a lack of migration tools that are capable of migrating an existing data store from one antiquated archiving system to another.
To help address these problems, we developed the Reverse Archiving Module (RAM) as a means of helping you migrate data to newer email archiving systems, while simultaneously saving resources by expediting the decommissioning of older systems. RAM copies archived data and places the data into Microsoft Exchange, making it available for re-archiving by the most current email archiving applications without compromising the integrity of the original archive’s data.
Reverse Archiving Module currently addresses archive data from Assentor and SAMS, and other archive systems added as newer versions are released. It can also read archived emails from a local disk drive, network share and CD/DVD jukebox.
